Solar Panel Timelapse for PIMBY
I recently did a time-lapse video of solar panels for PIMBY (Power In My Back Yard) a startup from West Virginia which provides "Energy from the wind and sun for your home, farm, or business."
It was a morning to night shoot with a frame recorded every second.
The Taint
The Taint is a feature I'm currently working on in collaboration with Drew Bolduc under the name Bolson Media Alliance.
Principal filming was done during the summer of 2009, and it is currently in the post-production stage.
We have a website, twitter, and facebook.
The movie is currently making it's way through festivals worldwide.
Syke Energy
(2008 - Present)
I've been freelancing recently for a non-smoking campaign called Syke Energy. The advertising agency that's running the campaign hired out a local agency that then hired me. They sponsor local smoke free shows that feature local and touring band. I film the shows and cut together short event videos using a song from one of the bands.
I try to use parts of the footage where the movement of the camera enhances the performance. What I've ended up with is a series of short cuts of quick movement with music. What I've learned in the process is something key about editing: don't go looking for footage that you think will work, go scavenging for footage that unexpectedly works. The best footage I've found is the stuff that catches my eye off hand. It doesn't match my preconceived idea of what the piece should be, instead I let the footage itself shape the direction of the work.
My work, in that sense, has become less about predicting, and more about finding a story, scavenging and discovering hidden treasure.

Purpose
I filmed Best Friends Day 7 originally for the Syke Energy campaign. After they decided not to use it I ended up cutting my own version for fun, which is what you see here. It's also the first thing I'd ever shot and cut after getting my Brevis lens Adapter.
I had so much fun filming BFD that I ended up filming Slaughterama the next year for fun. I tried to take more risks and get myself as close to the chaos as possible. I ended up wiping a lot of beer off my camera at the end of the day, but it was worth the experience.
